Something I think isn’t touched on enough in AoS is how powers evolve. Elena for example learned how not to bounce back, Daisy learned how to absorb vibrations and contain them, and flint literally made the monoliths. Like if they had time I would have loved to hear about how Inhumans get stronger and evolve.

some of my favorite agents of shield fun facts (season 3 edition) (part 1!!)
season one & two fun facts are on my page!! this may be the last season i do though :)
- the little tagline they used in the writers room for season two was “what will i become?” to reference skye’s new powers and learning about her family, coulson’s new position as director, and other character changes. in season three the tagline became “what have i become?” showing the characters evolution into season three and onwards.
- many of the writers also said that the season focused on emotional balance between characters. it was focused on the emotional connection between may & andrew, daisy & lincoln, coulson & rosalind, and fitz & simmons.
- after being taken by the monolith at the end of season two, elizabeth got no confirmation that jemma was alive and she still had a job playing her until being brought back for season three months later.
- the writers were a bit unsure of mack’s character evolution after season two but when they saw henry simmons acting they immediately saw “leading man material” and began to discuss him as a possible director.
- they had a “skye jar” in the writers room when writing season three because everyone kept forgetting daisy and writing skye.
- apparently jed & maurissa’s newborn guest starred in the first episode [03x01] sometime during the opening scene with joey. i watched the episode on Disney+ and i couldn’t find her though, maybe y’all can! [the bts picture i found has her in a blue stroller, dm me for the pic if you want!]
- the inhuman lash is played by matthew willig, a former NFL offensive tackle. he was chosen because not only his huge stature but his previous acting work. he had to take 4 hours in the makeup chair daily for the role.
- the character rosalind price was created to give coulson a role other than “the surrogate father”. both the writers and clark wanted to give him a romantic role. however, when they talked about her to the costume department they described her as a “female coulson”.
- as skye was written as the “eyes of the audience” in season one and bobbi was the same for season two, the writers created the character of joey gutierrez as the eyes of the audience of season 3 with inhumans.
- the writers created the relationship between daisy introducing joey into shield/inhumans to mirror coulson introducing skye into shield back in season one.
- joey’s character was supposed to be a more permanent character in the following seasons but actor who plays him, juan pablo raba, had just booked another show and he couldn’t do both.
- according to the costume designers, they describe coulson’s season three look as his “bad ass civilian look”
———
i am working on more season three facts rn, but i wanted to post some now!! also i wanted to take this time to show my support for the writers currently on strike (some of which wrote the scenes we love in aos!), they ask so little for the amazing work they do and i hope they get what they deserve in the near future !!

Okay okay so back when season 3 was airing week by week, there was a whole "who's under Hive's control" question for the promos of the next week's episode. (At least I think so, it's been like almost a decade since that season aired on tv) And I'm curious, ignoring the rest of the season and onwards, if you got to pick the brainwashed character, who would it have been?
Yes, I've heard of that! I wasn't around for it, I started watching AoS in 2020, but I am aware that they did promos like this
I don't think I would choose Elena. Not that she's bad, but she's arguably the least deadly out of the four, and there are ways to restrain her so she can't run. We also don't know a lot about her, so I think making her the brainwashed character isn't all that effective
Lincoln is too obvious. Wayyyyy too obvious. He's also been on the wrong side before (Jiaying) and I feel like having him be the betrayer is only playing into the suspicions of the fans and characters. He can do a ton of stuff, he's incredibly deadly, but due to him being expected, I'd again say no
I love Daisy, so obviously I wouldn't want her to be the brainwashed one, but hers does make the most sense. She knows the base the most and has the most deadly powers in terms of area and range. In this situation, however, I wouldn't go with her if I had that choice
So I think I would do Joey! He's the most underdeveloped so far, so having him be brainwashed could arguably give us more insight into his character. I'd also love to see his powers used for evil due to how much potential they have. Also also, if we play the "Inhumans are feared! They don't want us" angle, there could be great subtext with Joey being gay. The question then becomes "hey is it stereotyping to have the one gay character be evil" but I am gay, so we're throwing that question out the window /j
But yeah. Final answer Joey

Probably not an original idea, but Agents of Shield missed a good opportunity to bring back Joey Gutierrez in season five, at least in a way. Juan Pablo Raba could have played his own descendant in the future, a survivor in the Lighthouse, or even one of the people on the surface. I'm going with the Lighthouse, as then he could have fought with Yo-Yo and Mac. I think it would have been really meaningful for Yo-Yo to meet him and see him participate in the resistance. And he probably would have been fine with killing the Kree, contrasting him with Joey's struggle with being in S.H.I.E.L.D. I really liked his character and he was written off rather abruptly with no follow up. Kind of sad, like Bobbie and Hunter, but at least we got to see Hunter again! I'm not a fan of the Kree storyline so seeing someone immediately familiar in the future, unlike Deke and even Robin to some degree, would have been nice.

Propaganda for Joey: He is the first openly queer MCU character and was first introduced in the first episode of season three of Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. in 2015! He also is considered an main character in the season.
Propaganda for Tomoko: You can’t tell me she’s not into girls. She’s gayer than girls from actual yuri manga and she’s so weird about it
Propaganda for Kurt:
Literally just so iconic, and genuinely made so many waves for gay representation in tv
(picture from when he “auditioned for the role of kicker” bc his wave cracks me up and that whole episode (1x04) with him doing the single ladies dance mid-football game and coming out to his dad is, once again, so iconic)

one thing i really appreciate about agents of shield is that when they introduced yoyo, they let her be a native spanish speaker character who only spoke spanish and they brought in joey to translate. and while they did it super quickly, they made a point to have her learn english throughout the show.

the click-clacking of her high heels upon the floors of the institute sound like graupel.
saraswati supposes that she sees it. he's ruggedly handsome. probably good in the sack. little short, though, which is a pity.
but then, she's taller than most people in her life. she's certainly taller than her brother and sister. especially in heels. out of the three of her siblings, she'd inherited more from her late father than just the capacity to wield an element: she inherited his height, too.
a quiet sigh escapes her painted lips. ruby red. red as the dawn. red as blood.
there are no cameras here, which is both a relief and something awful. she's grown used to the flashes of light, to the hustle and bustle of the people. it's an environment she thrives in.
"all right, out with it, if you please, mister logan - i've got a busy schedule, as i'm sure you're well aware. what has that snowflake of mine done this time around?"
saraswati danu "sara" goossens nee nadeer is not only evander goossens' wife, she is also the oldest (and estranged) daughter of the late sunjina nadeer and her late husband, who - like his oldest - also had hydrokinetic abilities. her younger sister, eladevi "ellen" nadeer was a human, a former senator and has since passed away due to an explosion in her office. instead of being remembered for the good things she did, ellen is only remembered for her hatred of those she deemed "different": inhumans and mutants alike, which is ironic, considering her younger brother, vijay nadeer, has the ability of reactive adaption / evolution and is now in a relationship with jose "joey" gutierrez.
